Shroud 		Nadeste is a less-than-extravagant sorcerer, tending more towards a rare humility and magnanimousness. Ae uses aer magical skills freely and often, spending much time in charitable work.

For the stars ae has always longed, feeling their pull as a drowning drake to the surface.

"Good evening," said Nadeste politely to Nasij.

"Good evening! Yes, indeed, o kin of shadow!" said Nasij, and laughed brightly. Ze twisted through the air of the dimly lit hall like a curl of cloud at night. Ze stopped, and brought zimself very close to Nadeste's face. "Of you, o heart of night sky, I have a request."

Nadeste could predict where this was going. "Does it involve deersprites in any way, shape, or form?" ae said trimly. "If so, leave me out of it."

"Oh! You wound me! No--better. It is very simple." Ze cleared zis throat, and settled on the tile floor for just a moment. The two were nearly of a height, but Nasij evidently couldn't resist darting up over every wall and lamp, so Nadeste had to turn often to keep zim in view. "Through absolutely no fault of my own--it was a simple misunderstanding, you see--I am no longer on rotation on the hunting parties. And this is a dreadful injustice!"

Nadeste raised half aer crest skeptically. This was a new one.

Nasij continued. "I am on solo missions only. Which I simply cannot bear!" Ze swooped down from zis perch on the ceiling, and did a quick turn that brought zim side by side with aer. "And this must be remedied!"

"Need I remind you that I have no control whatsoever of Glwysed's decisions?" Nadeste said. A new one indeed.

"No, no!" Nasij said quickly, brushing zimself along Nadeste's side before taking flight again. Ze had a lot of room to maneuver in--the hall was made for guardians and the like. "It is not that complicated. You see, all I need is a little reshuffling, which you could easily arrange! You travel all over, correct? To see the telescopes?"

At aer slow nod, ze continued. "Simply request a guard! I happen to still--luckily enough--have close contact with the militia members. And they are all quite busy! All those people to feed here, all those wars off on other shores, they have no one to spare! I know that if you say you don't need a large presence, just someone to take into the narrow, deep-dark places, they will certainly pick me!"

"And you'll get to hypnotize as many passerby as you like, since they aren't clan members?" said Nadeste. Ae had heard the story. Nasij was an inveterate bewitcher.

"Possibly. Possibly." Nasij tossed zis mane from side to side. "But more importantly, o jewel of the dark, I will never bewitch, befuddle, ensnare, or otherwise enchant you in any way! You will be quite safe with me, o night's genius loci."

Now Nasij was laying it on a bit thick, thought Nadeste. But somehow, against aer better judgement, it was working. Ae couldn't believe Nasij would really hurt aer, and it was against zis best interests to do so anyway.

Nadeste fixed zim in place with a look, and said, "I will ask. There are no guarantees, but I will ask."

"I thank you greatly, o starlit gem," said Nasij, and carefully stretched out zis neck to gingerly touch noses with Nadeste. "Never will you regret it."
