Nevada

"Why should it matter that there's water? What, are you afraid to get dirty and ruin your perfect appearance?"





Nevada is an explorer of the Ice clan, Stiria. She is generally unfazed by the cold and but still likes to sometimes wrap up in warm clothes. Although she seems fairly cold and unemotional on the outside, she is actually quite friendly and has a "go with the flow" kind of attitude.

Though Nevada is fairly carefree, she does dislike those who are seen as "holier than thou" and found a friendship with Brio due to the mutual viewpoint. However, after seeing what Hira is really like under her cold facade, Nevada changed her opinion of those above her to look past their initial attitude and see them for who they really are.

Nevada favours colder environments for battle as it allows her breath attack to freeze quicker to lower the chance of escape, as well as remaining frozen for longer to also act as a barrier. She has also learned to use her horns to break through ice to better combat those who also favour cold terrain for their benefit.

Nevada is a character in a series I'm creating where every single character is based on a gemstone, even down to appearance, personality, name, and other traits. However, that connection to crystals is not acknowledged in the series itself. In this case, Nevada is based on Antarcticite.

Each character will have a trailer with a quote at the start (I've come to realise a lot of my series ideas have elements inspired by RWBY), and the second part of the quote hidden at the end which can only bee seen by brightening the image. The quote at the top of Nevada's bio is the first and second part of her trailer quote. The second quote in her bio is the first thing she says to Hira upon meeting her.

Nevada's name is an American name meaning "snowy", and her surname White is an American surname obviously meaning "white". The reason for using American names is based on the fact that, besides being found in Antarctica, Antarcticite is also found in California. I chose Stiria for the clan name as it is shortened from "Stiriacus", a Latin word for frozen.

Nevada's somewhat cold personality comes from Antarcticite coming from a cold environment as well a being believed to be made of ice. Her "go with the flow" attitude is based on the fact Antarcticite actually remains in a liquid (flowing) form, only crystallizing when the temperature drops.

Nevada uses ice in battle to both attack enemies and alter terrain. She also uses a pair of ice drills, again for attacking and terrain. As a dragon, I swapped ice drills for the horns on her head.



I chose ice as Nevada's element for obvious reasons and decided on primal eyes for her for the snowflake effect. She has a white colour scheme with hints of blue to mimic the snow and ice she is associated with. I gave her the crystal and shardflank genes to mimic ice. The clothing she wears is darker and often wooly/fluffy to attract heat and protect from the cold.
