'It's all fun and games until the wind snatches the pearls. It never hits the ground, but they do.' - by Xemriss When Estryn was a child she watched her newly made pearl be crumbled into dust, before she was 'accidentally' pushed off of the edge of one of the floating platforms in the Twisting Crescendo. The wind tossed her around wildly and she hit the ground hard, she should have died then and there as soon as she made contact with the ground. But she was rescued by a passerby named Azazel, who decided to adopt her as his own. But this did come with a price, as through saving her life he'd made her completely dependent on the Mondire Court's signature blood. Using the blood like everyday medication she grew up fairly normally despite her trauma, but being the adoptive daughter of one of the court's best hunters didn't give her much favor. To be a pearlcatcher without her pearl, it brings with it the constant shame of having lost it from both her peers, and herself. The court's other pearlcatchers tend to ignore Estryn unless they absolutely have to speak with her, except for Iosefka who at least knows why Estryn has no pearl. She and Azazel helped Estryn with picking up some sort of hobby to fill her time with, and distract from this unfortunate social backlash. She picked up glasswork in order to make figures, the ability to shape the glass into whatever she could possibly want was thrilling for her. With her talents also of course, came the need for the court to occasionally ask her to make glass weaponry. She hates doing this and would much rather just make and sell her figures in peace, but it's a small price to pay for time to herself without ridicule. She has been somewhat trying to reach out to others in the court besides pearlcatchers however, Morrow seems like he could use a friend just as much as she could. |
