“Why…?” An icy scaled skydancer asked, as she brought herself back up, shrugging dust off her, only to re-lock her eyes back upon Bex, whom is hovering in the skies alongside her purple pearl. Silence lingers as lightning echoes across Eronia.

“Why, you ask?” Bex respond, bringing her pearl closer to her chest. “I am the Mother for these dragons! To give them something that they lost!”

“Lost?”

“Long ago, I was abandoned. Left to fend for myself within the forests…until one day, a green pearlcatcher came along. It was Tissith, she found me, nursed me back to health. I thought her as a sister, more so as a mother. We played and did so many fun activities… in the rivers and the forests. We were family and my heart was content. Until one day, she quickly ran out the den without telling me why, only to mutter, ‘I’ll be back soon!’…

“After what seemed like hours, turned to days… I tried my best to keep our home nice and tidy for her return… until the bright flash of light, echoing across the skies. And that was when I realized the harsh reality. She has abandoned me. Left me to ROT! She has shown her true heart that she hated me! If she had truly loved me as a mother, or as a sister… she would have NOT left that cursed home!!” Bex screamed in anguish as tears rolled up in her eyes, only to mutter a single spell, releasing a corrupted spike towards the skydancer.

She dodged it in time luckily, only to take pause at her answer. Sadly… she had no response to that. Her mind was absent, went elsewhere, searching for a reason. Bex speaks once again.

“I turned away from the light, left that home into the darkness of the forests. Weak as I was, I stumbled and tumbled and tumble away I go. In tears I was, a darkness fell from the skies. It speaks to me as if it truly understood me. I took to it like moth to the flame and the answer is revealed… The reason why I am the Mother of the Swarm! I am here to take away the pains of Abandonment and Betrayal!” She held her pearl up as she starts up a long incantation.

The skydancer looked to the ground, as rain slowly begins to pour in, filling in the small craters from their battle, only to see her mirror in the waters. Then it finally hit her. Bex was not evil by heart. She was truly suffering from the losses of Abandonment and Betrayal. Her eyes close as her heart wavers for she sympathizes with her. Then she looks up, tears in her eyes.

“Yes. Abandonment and Betrayal are a sad reality of this world, for I was once a sufferer of both… However, the way you chose to overcome this is only causing more pain… Your corruption of dragonkind across worlds only results in more pain. As you took them away from their home, their families, and even their hatchlings!” She screamed right back at her, stomping her ground with fiery anger in her eyes. Rain became heavier as cold winds swoops in across the battlefield, permeating everything into the cold humidity. Fitting for such a dark battle.

“In my travels, with my friends, especially Smog—no, Aries. He has taught me that the way forward is to be able to be with one another, no matter the distance. To trust in one’s heart is more than enough to be able to turn the tide!” She yelled once again at Bex, which interrupted her concentration of her incantation, as she looked back down towards the skydancer.

“Who are you then…skydancer who claimed to be an opposite of me?” She asked.

“My name is Meylea, and I am the dragon who is going to knock some sense into you!” She leaped, wings spread out once again into the air, claws barred and teeth readied as she flies towards Bex, alongside her dark pearl and the Swarm behind her.
