MEMORY BANKS, also known as databanks, are a type of drone dedicated entirely to the cultivation and preservation of information. Unlike typical drones, they have overdeveloped brains and underdeveloped bodies, which gives them long, stretched-looking skulls, skeletal limbs, and visible bones. Memory banks are intensely frail, and are usually kept deep within a hive’s bowels for their own protection.
Memory banks are typically found in a deep comatose state, their bodies entirely useless while their mind is occupied logging the various memories of the hive’s drones. This allows them to store any and all useful information, such as the movements of dragons through territory, the health of the hive and areas in need of repair, the various strengths and weaknesses of enemies, and anything else of relevance. Larger hives often require multiple memory banks to keep up with the onslaught of data coming from the hive. More intelligent databanks may have heads so large they cannot lift them off the ground, but come at the advantage of being smart enough to pick through their data more thoroughly, deleting and filtering out information that is not particularly important or necessary to keep around.
