Biography

Kiran
Council Head
Clan Founder // Leader
A particularly seedy corner of the Zephyr Steppes was the birthplace of Kiran, although not even he himself knows that. His egg was found in an abandoned nest out in the middle of nowhere, and when no dragon came to claim it, the dragoness who was planning to ransom it back to its parents gave up. The unborn Kiran was dismissed with a disappointed sigh and tossed into a river, but his egg managed to survive the plunge. A day later, Kiran would hatch in the middle of a random reedbed, with nothing but the wind to answer his cries. A nearby Spiral clan eventually noticed his loud and disruptive screaming, and after growing tired of listening to his racket, they took him in. Kiran was the sole non-Spiral in his new clan, but he quickly began to act like them- multitasking was a given, his flight pattern was reminiscent of the wind, and once he mastered speech, he just wouldn't stop talking.

When child-Kiran grew tired of the Spiral lifestyle, he bid his clan farewell and set off along the river he had originally been thrown into, searching for a new roost to call home. The kid had loved his Spiral pseudo-parents and their enthusiastic kin, but had oftentimes felt out of place among them. His next attempt at finding a clan brought him to a Fae colony in the Reedcleft Ascent, but he lasted for less than a month there. Fae were alien to him despite being his species of origin, and although he was able to understand and mimic their crest-movement communication, it felt hollow to him. Once again, he went looking for something different. His final destination was a teahouse in a much more reputable area of the Zephyr Steppes, and the Skydancer couple that owned it were more than happy to take care of him in return for an extra server. Kiran learned to speak with a greater range of emotion and tone by copying the customers of the teashop- many were travelers, and many told him stories. The Fae soaked up their tales like some sort of literary sponge, and as he heard more about the world, his defining dream began to take shape. He wanted to run a clan of his own.

As a young adult, Kiran left the teashop and his Skydancer caretakers behind, devoting himself to competition in an attempt to find something he truly enjoyed. He read as many scrolls as he could on battle theory, spent time observing and mimicking the movements of competent warriors, and climbed the ranks in local sparring guilds, building himself a reputation as a fierce and well-known fighter. Despite his stature and sheer lack of bulk, his focus was on strength, and he fought using a dynamic style that borrowed elements from many other breeds. Prizefighting was never the drake's true calling, and the fantasy of starting a clan just would not leave his head. Two years after bursting into the scene, Kiran packed up and left, using his earnings and learnings to fund and protect a traveling lifestyle.

Journeying gave Kiran plenty of time to think about what he wanted to be, and when he finally found an answer that he was satisfied with, it wasn't anything new to him; after all those years and all those experiences, the drake still wanted to do nothing but lead his own clan. With nothing more than a vague concept and a kernel of hope, the Fae made his way back to the Zephyr Steppes, the place in which his story had started, the place where he felt most at home. He befriended many a dragon along the way, but one stood out above all the others. She was a roving Guardian named Hystial, and after traveling together for a mere day, she realized that he was actually her Charge. Kiran was overjoyed, and the two of them joined forces in order to create the clan together. They faced hell together as they claimed land and defended it from every manner of threat a growing clan must face. All the trials the Fae and Guardian had overcome as a pair made them inseparable, and mutual love grew between them. As his dream became more than just a dream, Kiran found that he was perfectly content with his life. This was what he was born to do.

Nowadays, Kiran spends his downtime running with the wind, whirling along with it like a leaf in the breeze as it dances through the sweeping moors and slithers across the vast gorges of his land. He, like many other dragons, found peace amidst the Windswept Plateau, under the powerful gusts of The Song. He leads his clan, named the Skyreach by its occupants, as fairly as he can. Kiran is very particular about the decisions he makes, and will listen carefully to the voices of his clanmates before setting anything in stone. It's no secret that he loves each and every dragon in the clan, and they truly are the closest thing to a real family he's ever had. Although he now specializes in healing magic, the peculiar Fae wouldn’t hesitate to give up his life fighting to defend his hodgepodge family from any sort of danger. With Hystial at his side and the Skyreach's many clan members supporting him, Kiran has finally found a place where he fits perfectly.

Living Space
Kiran's quarters are located directly above Hystial's cave, and have entrances scatted throughout the nearby area. He has a sap structure in one corner of his Guardian mate's den, which leads into a small (quite spacious for a Fae) and naturally-formed cavern, which contains all of Kiran's treasures. It branches into a few more rooms, which then are connected to a series of tunnels. One leads to the surface of the stony ridge that contains the den, one leads to the bamboo grove, one leads to the Gaoler cave, and the last goes deeper, connecting to an underground cavern.
