Min is the Egyptian god of fertility and reproduction, the patron god of the caravan routes to the Red Sea and the prospector of gems in the eastern Egyptian desert. He sometimes is depicted as a white bull but most often as a man with an erection, only one leg and one arm. Character: ☥ flirty ☥ ☥ selfish ☥ ☥ greedy ☥ ☥ antiauthoritarian ☥ Min once lived as a common human in a little village nearby Coptos. One day a messenger of the pharao arrived and told every man to leave the village and to go to war. Min tricked the messenger with dressing like an old man and telling him, that he is insanely sick and barely able to move on his own. The messenger believed Min and left him in the village. But a few years later, after the war was over and the men returned in their village, it was filled with small children and pregnant women. The betrayed husbands rushed to look after Min - and finally they found him, together with the wife of the village's leader. In anger they pulled him out of the bed and the house, to cut off one arm and one leg for his infamous actions. They cast Min out from the community and left him in the desert to die. But the gods noticed the young man and saved his life, giving him immortality. They decided that henceforth he has to watch over the fertility of the men as the god of male sexual potency. Together with Seschat he also takes part in the preparation of the Sed festival. He was even able to introduce his own Min festival where the pharao was given a bundle of cereal that symbolised and revitalized his fertility. Even though he has to watch over the men in first place, Min never stopped to gaze after women. This might be the reason why there are still men having some troubles with their fertility: Min is being "very busy" when it comes to beautiful women... |
