An old cartographer who lost her sight through a curse, but luckily was able to bestow one of her eyes onto her familiar before the curse took hold. Now she sees through her companion (which frankly, is taking getting used to). But she's managing, and they're adapting well.

She angered a long forgotten ancient deity by going somewhere she shouldn't have. To prevent her from being able to make a record of this sacred place, (and by extension, map any other place ever again), the deity sealed her sight away with a curse. She'll never see again.

But her familiar, a rather clever crow, found a way to save the day. He stole one of her eyes, before the curse could rob it of its sight, and through its own magic attached the eye to himself, on his chest. So she can't see on her own, but does have vision through that unusual eye.

The crow can fly over new and exciting lands, and she sees the world pass by beneath him. From there she can scratch simple maps down, and "proofread" them when he returns so she can see the parchment
