- vinny and her family, cordelia, darryn, dandelion clan, get persecuted bu beckquerel until elisabeth interferes. they get pointed to the cloudsongto trade the compass. it's actually cursed, still points fortune, but brings bad luck
- at one point they fight over following the compass or going to the cloudsong.
deaths, battles, hatchlings, danger... will they get the compass to lord desideria before bad luck kills them all?
