When Ulund left his birth clan to begin the Search, he didn't expect to be protecting the soul of a hatchling. Not too long after he left his clan, he came across the den of a fellow Guardian. This den smelled of multiple dragons though. He looked in the cave and saw a shiny pearl . . . his charge. Then he noticed the dragon holding it, a very small Pearlcatcher. The owner of the den came back, she introduced herself as Stareyes. She was the Guardian of one of the nesting mothers, which was the hatchery of a local clan. She had seen him looking at the Pearlcatcher, now known to be called Magnolia, and asked him about his charge. He replied that it was the Pearl, so Stareyes offered for him to stay and raise the young dragon.
