Biography

Lykos started out as an
unwanted Skydancer, for sale in
the AH for a month overlooked
by thousands, when the Alphess
of the LunarMyst clan saw something
special in him, and took him in,
he was submissive, frail from malnutrition,
very shy and easily spooked by
the larger dragons.

But something odd was afoot.
He started to change.

First it wasn't terribly noticeable as
his personality became more reclusive,
he stopped wanting to sleep in the lair,
and was easily agitated.
But then he started to stalk the perimeter
of the clans territory for days without talking
to anyone.
And when neighboring clans would
visit he turned agressive.

Neighbors stopped visiting LunarMyst clan un-annaounced.

Priest

The Alphess the Shaman and the Priestess
and Priest of the clan looked into the
situation further having seen many
dragons in their clan react before to
the charged energy unique to their territory,
but news had spread this was happening
en-measse to dragons across Sornieth.
And that this sudden changes was widespread,
some sort of "reaction" causing dragons to act out of
character was not attributed solely to the supercharged
LunarMyst territory alone.

Oddly, he was respectful to only them,
allowing the leaders to examine and speak with him.
He was just as confused as everyone else.

He just felt territorial, but like it were a duty.
He felt physically stronger, and an odd desire
to fight.
A need for order and reclusivity, yet,
attached to this new home and a great deal
of respect to his new clan leaders.

It was plain for the shaman to see this
was nothing medicinal herbs or tinctures
could fix, he had undertaken some transformation
that was progressing rapidly.
He tried to comfort Lykos but-
even he was worried.

The Solar Priest and Lunar Priestess
did a ceremony to guide his mind and
body along in the shift, as being stuck
between this change was causing him a
great deal of distress, so they arranged
to speed things up in a controlled
environment surrounded by guards that
would restrain or, even put him down
should anything go too far south. . .

And so, at twilight with the sun and full moon
at even odds, after meditation and some medicine,
They shocked him, charging his body with energy
needed to accelerate whatever was happening within him.
His body shook as his muscles tensed.
He first grew a burly mane,
his talons became long and curled scraping the ground,
and antlers branched from his head.
He roared and it bellowed across the sky like thunder.
His became large and intimidating.
And then there was quiet.
It was done.

The healers knew, he was a Gaoler now, a nearly forgotten
ancient species that were not native to
the desert of the Shifting Expanse,
they were from the Southern Icefields.

Everyone was surprised as the Alphess
dared step forward to speak to him.

"Lykos, are you now a friend or foe?"
She stood before him wings outstretched, prepared.
She would join the fight to protect her clan
as they were her instinctual charge,
even if he outmatched her in strength and size.

To everyone's surprise, he bowed his
massive crown of antlers to her. Speechlessly.
And what a great ally they had in him.

She allowed him to guard the clan territory,
of course some things changed,
he demanded protocols.
No one from outside the clan could enter
without a clan escort from now on for
example.
And the Alphess obliged setting these
new rules as it was better for the clan
overall, and after getting used to him the
clan generally felt safer with him around.

He stalks the territory tirelessly, his bright
colors a final warning, for if he is in sight
you already have one foot in the afterlife.

How this foreign species would adapt to
their land and element would be of
interesting study.
