Uzume has always been sort of a loner. Born with rare eyes and a tertiary that clashed, he felt ashamed of his appearance and could never form close bonds because of it. He traveled for many years wearing a skin over his wings, until he met a magical lizard who taught him secrets of the universe through a series of trials and puzzles. At the end of this process, the lizard completely remade Uzume's wings, keeping Uzume's original secondary at his request, but purging it of the old green and pink peacock feathers, as well as tattooing runes into his side and painting his hands and feet, all in ritual.

At the end of this experience, his lizard friend returned to The Shifting Expanse and Uzume returned to his clan, still sort of a loner, but with ambitions to make new friends, starting with others who have strange eyes like he does. He adopted a pet bird of the same brilliant blues of his lizard companion, and the two are often seen flying around the night sky together with the other starcon dragons, creating beautiful shimmering displays of twinkling stars.
