guardian | curious | rarely seen

5HmnbMk.png

Pharius is considered a legend among the residents of the swamplands. Covering himself in large flowers and silk, the fragrance of the flowers creates an effect that makes the gaoler look more ethereal and magical. He doesn't often show himself to the outside world, instead resting his spirit within a tiny lotus bud on a random lilypad somewhere. Every now and again, though, he likes to stretch his legs and takes a refreshing walk out into the wilderness.
Often do wrong-doers in the swamp end up vanishing, seemingly ceasing to exist in mere moments and never to be seen again. Though to the residents, they simply believe the bog got to them, but in trputh, it was Pharius taking them away for their crimes, for he is the guardian of the swamp. His scented flowers help lure in those that must be judged, and before they can realize what's happening, the gaoler will strike.

However, Pharius is a flawed guardian, and he is ever curious about the beings he watches over and protects. Sometimes he will get closer to settlements than he should, leading to a few of them actually spotting the gaoler before he flees. Luckily, they remain unaware of Pharius' true identity and purpose, so he isn't completely bothered by being discovered. And if they become afraid of a lurking gaoler within the woods? So be it, as long as it prevents them from wanting to do any harm inside of the forest.

tumblr_ph64flyTl71wgebr5o3_250.png One would think that for a powerful guardian, a pesky little aether wouldn't be much trouble. However, Gomrin has been able to allude Pharius and his attractive flowers since she first caught his attention. She's always up to her antennae with smelly herbs and rancid potions that her nose has become immune to the effects his flowers would have on her. The gaoler is smart and knows that he could not beat her with strength alone, as she has her many potions by her side to defend herself should she need them. So, he lies in wait, looking for a possible opportunity to bring peace to the swamplands once again.
