"The grass is greener where you water it."
Born into a clan in the Sea of Currents after the Tidelord's disappearance, Danu's young life was full of turmoil. Growing up, she struggled to learn to harness her powers, control over water coming more naturally for her than for many others even if she was uncertain she wanted it. Still, Danu eventually grew to be a well-trained mage capable of controlling the currents and scrying for future events, although her vision is often clouded due to the Tidelord's absence. It was due to her disillusionment about her deity's return that that she left her clan, moving to the Hotaru clan in the Lightweaver's domain and abandoning her title of master mage in favor of taking up a more humble path. Although she desired a job which wouldn't require her to use the powers she had dis-avowed, Danu found an interest in growing crops. She could use her powers to arrange irrigation ditches and to form a system to make watering fields far from water easier. Danu began to work closely with Tardis to design an aquaduct system, using her ability to manipulate water to help draw it into the system so it would be distributed to more arid fields. Despite her reservations with regard to using her powers, Danu now keeps a small jar at her waist filled with water that she can manipulate as needed for whatever purpose she might need it for. |

Danu avoids spending time with Umi due to their differences of opinion on their home territory. While he focuses on the past she looks to the future, something which often puts them at odds. Despite a reluctance to use her powers, Danu will occasionally amuse the hatchlings with animals and other creatures made out of water, creating stories with the parts being acted out. Some of her stories have a surprising tint of reality to them and often are mimicked in some way by real life. Danu does not stand on tradition at all, believing that the way forward will be made clear to those who change with time. Although she tries to avoid being forced into a role, Danu's charge is the ocean and she will typically get angry with dragons who needlessly litter in the ocean even if she otherwise rejects that bond. With Tardis's help, Danu is growing better at designing aquaducts and one day hopes to offer her services to other clans, such as the Watchers. She is certain that strengthening the ties between the two clans can only end well. Surprisingly, despite being a very talkative dragon many in the clan don't know much about Danu's past and personality besides what their own observations have gleaned. Name Origin: Means water in Scythian. Also the earth goddess in Celtic religion. |
