Personality
Elusive and snarky, Borealis is not known for his sunny disposition. What he is known for are his anger issues, impulsiveness, slightly violent tendencies, and his habit of never staying in one place for long. While he rarely thinks before he speaks, he will often immerse himself in his craft for hours on end, usually making armour or clothes, occasionally accessories. Despite all his flaws, he is very much a family man. After all, there's only so long you can spend portal hopping by yourself.

History
Borealis didn't always have those distinctive cobweb markings; he was born with smoke, like his father. The many eyes he's always had, but he's not the first in the family to have them. He has a long lost sister, Aurora, who he was named after, who he shares his myriad of eyes with. This sister is long lost because his mother was tricked by the Icewarden into sending her to a random dimension. When he was told about this, Blur and Toxic told him there was no point in looking for her. Furious and misunderstanding this as they never even tried to look, he tracked down a smirch scroll, and ran away to start looking for her himself. You never leave family behind. He's been looking for her for years. Even when it gets to the point where he understands why he was told there was no point, he just... can't stop looking.

Borealis gets back to his room, emptying the contents of his bag on the floor. A couple of skeins of yarn (yes, he only went to the market for one thing, but they were so soft, and such a nice colour, he couldn't resist!), and a scroll. He hesitates before putting the yarn back, he doesn't want those getting ruined, and then opens up the scroll carefully. If the spiral who sold him this was being truthful, this should replace his beautiful, smoky markings with cobwebs covering his top half, and his wings. He isn't doing this for appearance. He's doing this for the powers the gene will provide. His sister is lost, in an alternate dimension, and his smirch having mother is doing nothing to look for her. Someone has to look. That someone will be him, if this works. He already stole some of his mother's old armour (which he's starting to suspect he'll outgrow, but what can you do), he just needs to actually be capable of traveling across dimensions. Once he reads this scroll, his life will change forever. But he'll be able to find Aurora. He figures that what he wants matters very little here; Aurora didn't get a choice in being sent to an alternate dimension, after all.
It's really the least he can do.
Someone has to do it.
