- Sells flowers to earn money to pay for medicine for her mother, who is gravely ill
- No doctor knows what's wrong with her, and every one of them told Cala it was hopeless, but she didn't give up
- overheard one day two dragons talking about how witch blood can cure any ailment, or so they say
- Cala has tried everything so far, and witch blood doesn't seem like a bad idea
- Begins her hunt for witches, and is informed of a certain line of witches that has blood more potent than any other line
- Hunts Lilane, and cuts her with a steel dagger
- The blade melts away, sizzling...
- Liliane curses Calamintha to roam the Garden for eternity, and Cala remains there, hopelessly trying to find a way out
