The barren, cracked landscape of Mae Jang is inhospitable to any except those who dwell beneath it. The poor, unfortunate souls who cling to the broken promises of a world that cares nothing for them.

The rich ascend to the top of the spired caverns, but the weak scrabble across its floors with nowhere to rest their wings. The darkness birthed monsters, hungry with avarice and endless greed. Nekine came into this world scrabbling for enough insects to slake the gnawing at his stomach and never felt the hunger end.

Not when he murdered his way to the top of the underworld's crime syndicates, nor when the wealthy bent quivering heads in fear of his claws. Not until the Goddess of Justice slanted a blade across his throat and requested he serve at her feet instead.

There is nothing more hungry than a creature of night that covets the light of the sun.
