BARRY
Irish: 'Marksman' Baked and brought to life in the Bewitched Bakery, Barry has never had a normal life. Not created from flesh and bone, but made with flour and milk, this Mirror doesn't have any parents - just a creator. After a little accident involving a Gate which allowed souls to return to Sornieth, some of these souls were reincarnated in the pastries of the bakery. They have no memory of their previous life - at least, most of the returned souls haven't. They now seek to live a normal life like any other dragon. 'Life is an adventure' is the motto this dragon lives by. Every day is a new opportunity, every new place a potential new home, and every person a possible new friend. They crave for an emotional connection with other dragons, and their charming and charismatic nature is certainly very helpful with this. They enjoy coming up with fun and exciting solutions in weird situations and this can cause others to deem them a leader - even when this dragon doesn't feel like it or wants it. They need their freedom, and being pushed into a role is not what they want. Nevertheless, they enjoy guiding others, as long as it is their own choice. |

Coffee and Walnut Cake
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease two 20cm round cake tins and line with baking parchment. 2. Dissolve the coffee granules in 1 tbsp boiling water and allow to cool for 10 minutes. 3. Cake: Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Using a large spoon, fold in the flour and baking powder. Stir in half the walnuts and the dissolved coffee. 4. Divide the mixture between the tins and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and springy to the touch. Remove the cakes from the tins and leave to cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack. 5. Icing: Dissolve the coffee granules in 1 tsp boiling water. Beat together the butter and icing sugar until pale and fluffy. Stir in the coffee and mix until well combined. Use half the buttercream icing to sandwich the cakes together. Cover the top with the remaining icing and decorate with the remaining walnuts. *It is possible to swap the butter in the cake for margarine. | xxxx |
