A lone egg lay in the wreckage of the Emperor's wake, the sole survivor of its rampage. From the egg hatches Chrysocolla. For the first several months of her life, wreckage and rot was all she knew. It fascinates her, to watch the once intact bodies slowly decay, giving form to new life in the way of insects and fungus. She hunts small animals and kills them to watch how their bodies change over time, and she would rip plants from the ground to watch them shrivel and die. She would have spent the rest of her life there in the ruins of the wake if not for the Emperor.

She knows immediately she needs to avoid the Emperor at all costs, but the sight of its rotting body, still moving through some sort of magic she can't understand, immediately draws her in. She flirts with death, observing the Emperor far closer than most would dare. She wants to know how it works, what sort of magic moves it... how to make one. It takes a few close encounters for her to finally give up the chase, though the desire to learn more does not leave.

Acting on that desire, Chrysocolla heads to Lanternlea Port, the light domain's premier location for learning. She's shocked to find her inquiries on the Emperor disgust most dragons, and they almost chase her out of the city. Persevering though, she apologizes and keeps to herself to not draw attention. She studies everything she can get her claws on about decay, the Emperor, and growing fungus.

She would stay for years if she could, but her studies and zeal for rot disturb the light dragons. She does meet several plague dragons that share her passion, though her interest in the Emperor disgusts them too.

Deciding it was time to leave the light domain behind, she sets out for new lands. She heads north, following the warm air from which she knows decay will flourish. Landing in the Gladeveins, Chrysocolla sets to work. She finds rotting logs and dead animals, nurturing the life that grows from them.

It wasn't enough. Not satisfied with simply watching, she goes out of her way to ensure the plant life and animals rot. Of course, the nature dragons of the Gladeveins don't take kindly to that sort of thing, and they chase her away over and over again.

Chrysocolla isn't deterred, she continues her travels, always on the lookout for new kinds of rot. In the guise of a friendly light dragon only wishing to learn, she studies under any nature dragon that would take her. After all, rot was another form of life in a way.

Growing stronger, Chrysocolla finds her own little hollow near the Everbloom Gardens where she experiments with her newfound magic. A simple touch is enough to kill most plants, and she finds she especially likes how flowers wither and rot, their sweet smell emphasized by their death.

She lays undetected for several years, spreading fungus and death through the gardens. Through death, life returns. Chrysocolla loves watching the cycle, nurturing the new life to be stronger than the last so she can test her magic on the new plant life.

All good things must end. Her magic draws unwanted attention and she finds herself chased from her home yet again. Growing resentful of the nature dragons, she flies south into the Tangled Wood on her way to the Scarred Wasteland.

It's like coming home, and she can't believe she spent so long in the Veridian Labyrinth when this perfect place exists. She throws herself into the study of the fungus that was prevalent in the woods, growing steadily stronger with each passing day. The dragons in the woods aren't as skittish about what she does, cherishing the fungus she grows, and she knows she's found her forever home.

Heading to the highest concentration of fungus, she finds herself in the Wispwillow Grove. Content to keep to herself, she soon meets an Imperial named Adam. While Imperials aren't rare, she hasn't had the chance to study any up close due to coming on too strong. There was also the issue of not being strong enough in case things turn sour, but she knows that wasn't an issue any longer.

When Adam asks her to join his clan, helping with gathering and fighting, she knows this is her chance. Perhaps she can learn how to create an Emperor after all…
