Samson ; the "Doctor"
he/him, bisexual, 26 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "You need a doctor? Well, I'm here! Because I am, definitely, a doctor." • a b o u t • Samson was always a curious hatchling. He had a tendency to wander off on his own away from his siblings, eager to explore the bounties nature had in store, excited about what treasures he would find and what adventures he would go on. This was a good way to get hurt, and get hurt he often did. No matter--a young thing like him could always bounce back! THe clan medic who patched him up when the scrapes and burns were severe enough, often didn't bother to explain their process. This made him curious at what is what they were doing--what was that plant for? Why did he have to drink these specific potions, and in that specific order? They already snickered at his questions and refused to answer, sending him back home with his tail between his legs after a vicious tounge-lashing. That didn't do anything to quell his curiosity, though, only making it grow. He never did find out what those herbs were. He ended up studying to be a courier, mainly because he was a fast flyer and he wasn't good at anything else. Carpentry, stone-carving, scribing, soothsaying, Samson's tried it all, and he was pretty bad at it all. Being a courier doesn't require much work as long as you're trading low-level messages, so he ended up in Lanternlea Port flying messages between correspondents who couldn't bother to travel around the city. It didn't pay well, but it paid, and that was the important part. It was only when he took a big payday to deliver a message in the middle of a hurricane to a ship on the water did he experience a true hardship during his courier career, hitting the ship's mast and crashing to the floor, too hurt to fly, and the dragons on the ship unwilling to ferry him back in the middle of a storm. And of course, they had cargo to deliver around Sorneith, and they couldn't wait for him to heal... So, he was, albeit politely, kidnapped. Those two months spent in the healer's cabin as his wings slowly recovered did finally allow him to learn a little something about medicine. Not much, mind you--there are only so many ailments you can see over a two-month period, and there's only so much a healer out at sea can teach you. It did, however, give him enough knowledge to lie his way onto The Wandering Whale as a totally legit doctor. He has everybody fooled, for sure. (The crew is fully aware he can barely patch them up, but they also do not care in the slightest, as his pay is incredibly cheap and it's not like there's another doctor around.)
