As a hatchling, she was taken under the wing of a bladesmith in Dragonhome, where she lived her her days quietly observing him work. She'd watch the huge dragon shape every dagger and sword hour by hour, fascinated by the process. He would often let her hold a small dagger after it was fresh off the grinding stone. Other times she was allowed to lift up a rapier far too hefty for her feeble hands, and they'd both laugh when the tip clinked with the ground. The young Pearlcatcher grew to understand her caretaker's craft but never was quite able to hone the practice fully. Her daggers would chip easily, sword hilts fell off at the slightest touch, or the metal would be all bent out of line. With this newfound frustration, she took to studying the numerous books on precious metals that were huddled away in a corner of the forge. Many nights were religiously spent scouring the scrawled parchment pages until she came upon a peculiar picture. There was a diagram that showed a method of imbuing metals with elemental magic, and that night she found the answer the answer to all of her problems. Her caretaker reluctantly accepted her proposition the next morning: let her attempt to enchant one of her failed projects. Slowly and steadily, strengthening Earth magic flowed into the darksteel of a broadsword, even making the metal sturdier than imaginable. The bladesmith was in shock at her feat and encouraged her to enchant one of his own pieces. She managed to foolproof one of those same rapiers she had trouble holding so long ago. For the next week, dragons were crowding at the bladesmith's shop when clans caught word of a mysterious metalmancer that was close. The crowds eventually died down while the bladesmith wearied with age. He told her his smithing days were almost over and that she should move on to bigger, better things. With a heavy heart, she left her old friend to go on to other territories. She offered her enchanting services all around Sornieth before deciding to settle down in a clan.

Sometimes Imperials get their antlers stuck in the treetops and have to sit and wait to be rescued, and are often mistaken for trees. Some say Earrings of Transmutation were made for Imperial antlers, so rescuers can tell what's a tree branch and what's an antler when trying to cut them free.

This ability makes for an excellent tracking mechanism as the winds can move all throughout an environment and report back to a user its information. Winds can tell the user of what happened or what is happening, help them to track someone at long distance away, etc
