Ruka had no shortage of playmates as a hatchling. Their long hours of hide-and-seek, merciless pranks played on each other, and challenges of flying through the Reedcleft Ascent honed her athleticism and stealth. Her midnight blue coloring helped her to blend into shadows, and what started as an advantage in games and amusement grew into a career as she aged.

First petty theft, then she began to take on more dangerous assignments. Few of her family members knew of this second identity, but some recognized her skills and she became a fixture in the world of assassinations. She did well for herself, though the extra treasure flowing to the clan didn’t go unnoticed. Irritated at what she perceived to be a lack of gratitude for her contribution, she disappeared from the clan one night with the bitter intent to return once they realized how much they needed her.

She was hired to kill Namalki, the leader of the original Sideris clan, for her client to obtain access to the Violet Water. But as she entered the Guardian's sleeping quarters, she discovered that Namalki was gone and a haggard Wildclaw waited instead... the deathseer. Brasse recognized her intentions and confronted Ruka with what turned into a lengthy conversation, as well as a declaration of Ruka's destined death. Ruka renounced her past life and too ashamed to return to the children she had abandoned for her pride and bitterness, she was granted an honorary place in Sideris and devoted herself to a life of meditation. Once the clan merged with Riverbank she was placed into the role of the Wind Priest for the shrines.
