Polaris

Thankfully, your fall is broken by something fluffy yet prickly. You have landed in a pile of stale straw. Though you are grateful not to have hit a hard surface, the stench of sewer nearly makes you gag. You dig your way out of the pile and blink against the dust settling around you. There is a stark light cutting through the haze and you stumble towards it. You must have landed in some sort of dungeon. There, hanging against the bars of an empty cell, is a lantern:

It is a dull, aged silver, but what intrigues you are the star-like flecks dancing across its surface. Did something move against its flame? You step forward to take a closer look and are surprised to find your eyes adjusting to its brilliance:

A large dragon lies on the floor of an Ice cave. Scars of barely flickering light flow over his otherwise pitch scales. He is wrapped in a black ribbon with runes of gold scribbled hastily over its surface. Perhaps some sort of curse? Through the lantern, you sense something moving near the dragon, but can't quite make it out.




Magic: He can see through lies and illusions, resist mind reading, and if anyone attempts to take control of him, he will be able to retain his own will and freedom while gaining the advantage of knowing the intentions of whoever is trying to take him over. After death, if he is raised as an emporer, he will retain more of his own sentience and free will than an Imperial normally would.
