Biography
ITAZIUS
THE KEEPER
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A gargantuan serpent coils in the shadows over the walls, where he presides over his lair. The Keeper lives above all his charges and his decree decides their fates. Tendrils of darkness cling to him like flesh. There are parts of him where scale has melted away to expose the bone beneath, and there is nothing left of his face but two dull, glowing eyes. The Keeper never sleeps, and he sees all in his domain.
The first of his charges came unto him bowed and broken. In his embrace, shielded from the outside world, they scarred and became strong. So it was for all who came after, and in their arrival was birthed the clan and creed of Kar, the Beacon. In the dawning age, the Beacon traversed the Wastes and his guiding light led the weary to their salvation in the lair of the Keeper.
In the image of the Beacon was made manifest the creed. An essence, more intangible and more understood than words; the faith of the reborn in the presence of life in death’s chance at the maw, begat from the life and death of the Harbinger Beacon; harbinger, to those fast held in the stranglehold of despair and decay; and beacon, their light and guidance to the mouth of change. The First Charge, salvaged and born anew before the second knock of fate, bid all drink from his skull and see the world as the Keeper sees his domain. In weakness, there is a whisper of strength. In death, the offer of life; decay is change is the mark of will, that which binds them all and makes complete the tether of mind and body; existance beyond end’s will is will’s own dominion over fate and the mark of meritance beared by all who pass through his shield. This is the Karian Creed, of whose followers will retain life through remembrance everlasting in the skull of the Keeper, excepting all who pass outside the Keeper’s sight.
Through the ritual of purging, the newly inducted live on over the bones of the old, and change will uphold equilibrium in his lair. This is the cycle, wherein those whom are shed, be it naturally or sacrificially are ever exalted in his eyes or the Mother's, and those from the outside are accepted into his embrace. From the dust of the old world hence shall come the water of the new.
Echelons are tied to residence, those in the lowest of the clan living the furthest beneath his sight. Seniority has little influence over the Taskmasters’ reins, and the bearers of power may walk in any age. The males are marked from their symbolic rebirth into the clan by new names, such that they may begin anew unburdened by the sins and progresses of the past. The females are the mothers of generations, and their names are as everlasting as their line. All may take a mate freely and their offspring are inducted by right of birth, though none are excepted from the cycle. Such is the Keeper’s decree over all who under him reside.
