______ Menthima’s theories were correct. The Shade multiplies, and Antares could prove it. She was a tablet holder, and while she was not the most powerful of them, nor the most agile or calculating, she had something the others did not; the ability to sense and locate the offspring of The Shade. By simply focusing her energy, Antares could pinpoint the exact coordinates of a shadeling anywhere in the universe, and with the help and guidance of Kurokami and Kasshokami, she could go to them.

______ Antares wanted to see for herself what a shadeling looked like, and decided to track one relatively nearby. Using Kasshokami’s magic, Antares could teleport to a habitable planet near the shadeling, and she waited for the creature to come close enough to see. She waited, and waited, and waited some more, but it never approached. It seemed to have no interest in this planet, despite the abundant life there. Eventually, Antares was forced to return home, to think of a new plan. Looking to the night sky, she consulted her tablet, wondering what good her power was for, if she could not even come to the creatures she could sense. Suddenly, a tingling wave rushed over her. Her sense was going crazy. A glance behind her was all the time she had to see a shadeling, the one she had attempted to study before, rushing at her in all its demonic glory and aiming to kill.
