Quiet - Clever - Passive
Altair's family is a family of tradition. Most of his parents' kids, upon reaching mature age, travel to serve the Windsinger, and many of them believe in this lifestyle. However, some do not - and over the course of years, it fractured the family. |
+++Unlike the majority of his family members, Altair both never cared about serving the Windsinger and didn't have enough dislike for the idea to run away to avoid it. Instead, the small fae just shrugged, went with his mentor into Coliseum and then proceeded to obediently follow them around, listening to the teaching and nodding along. His weird eyes and his quiet, uncaring and somewhat unsettling behavior alienated his siblings, and their parents, while loving in their own way, never had enough time to get through Altair's defences, and for most of the time, he was left alone. +++The fae, however, didn't mind. From the early days of his life, Altair discovered his great obsession - games, - and used all of the free time he had to play them, mastering his skills and thinking up the better strategies. Once he was older and allowed to leave the family's house further, he started to spend entire nights on the Fairgrounds, returning only to continue his training, and becoming even more closed off as time passed. Gaming became his favorite - and only - hobby, a way to both relax and express himself, to enjoy life right away rather than awaiting to fulfill some great purpose. |
+++Months gone by, and soon his siblings started to talk about the ever-approaching time for them all to leave to serve the Windsinger. Altair, always agreeable, went along with the packing and the preparations - and as everyone gathered what personal possessions they accumulated, the fae brought home an entirety of treasure he earned thanks to his interest in gaming, and now didn't know what to do with. Needless to say, his family was genuinely astonished by it - none of them knew Altair well-enough to realize how beneficial his hobby actually was, and some didn't even know that he had a hobby. +++Recognizing that he was more useful back home, and that he - despite not voicing it himself, - will be unhappy in the forces of the Windsinger, whatever kind those were, their parents offered Altair to stay and instead help the Wind Flight financially. He could go where he wanted and do what he wished, but had to return about once a month to provide a sum of treasure to be send with his siblings to the Wind Flight's bank. The fae, as always, agreed without much thought - and that's how he ended up free from the family tradition. Free, and alone even more so than he was before. |

Deztore Greenwing Razorclaw Altair is distant from the dragon world outside of his gaming, and maybe that's why the razorclaw readily joined him. They aren't friends - at least according to their own perceptions, - but they stick together for the time being, and no one knows what exactly this warrior thinks of Altair. They talk barely once a day, and often separate to be on their own, both content with this setup; but in the evenings, they return to each other, watching the night settle in together. |
+++Lost and not knowing what to do now that he had no set programs to follow, Altair just moved to the Fairgrounds altogether, spending entire days here, sleeping in the forest nearby and only buying food to survive until tomorrow. He just didn't know what else he could be doing, for the only thing he ever found peace in was playing, and there was no one to offer an advice. He earned enough treasure to live luxuriously, but had no idea that he could do so, concepts of other ways of life than his family's being just some vague shadows in his mind. +++Altair continued to live like this, doing one thing for himself and following what he'd been told in anything else. His parents mentioned that he should dress up a little, to represent the flight - Altair got random pieces of green and Wind-themed apparel to wear. His sister told him that maybe he should get a familiar, or find a friend - he found a wounded razorclaw in the forest, and offered him to tag along. The one and only possession of his that wasn't a result of someone else's words is his hat, which was a random spontaneous buy from a small apparel stall he saw once in the Fairgrounds. Altair still can't explain why he bought it, but he treasures the hat and always wears it, despite it not being Wind-themed at all. |
As life continued, days spent with carefree gaming permitted by monthly donations sent back to his family, Altair slowly, but surely grew more expressive; bolder. He started to catch himself watching other dragons, being curios about their lives, even wondering what were his siblings doing far, far away. The fae started to speak up more readily and trust his own opinion a bit more.
His relationship with Deztore, the razorclaw, also grew - for one, the beastclan warrior actually supplied his name. The change in Altair must've been noticed by him, for the razorclaw started to hang around the dragon much more. Now that there was a personality to get attached to, the warrior became fonder of his companion, appreciating Altair's contemplative and peaceful attitude, while also advising him to be more assertive. He didn't shy away from voicing his disapproval of Altair's family, too: in Deztore's eyes, they were weak for trying to earn honor with someone else's claws.

Began Oct 07, 2015 on Tonake's WW Thread Rebooted on Fantastic's WW Thread Temp was Ookamiotoko's WW Thread A long run thanks to Zenhugz on RedBirdMarie's WW Thread (temporary head of donations - Zenhugz) Current thread with a Gamer Crew, led by @Paintminion on this thread. One day the Wind Flight Council discussed a way to make money for Dom, and a complaint was made that those gamers were not doing enough for Wind Flight Dominance Battles. The gamer dragons were so busy playing their games, they'd forget to do their part for Dom and show up for training sessions. The Flight needed funds, and Gamers were earning funds, maybe they would game on behalf of the Flight? Get them involved in fundraising if they were going to sit around and play their games instead of joining the ranks. Windsinger Wednesday was born! It is now a special weekly Game Day, a program where at least one day a week all the game-loving dragons meet up and play games to earn donations for Wind Flight's Dom efforts. You simply play and pay any winnings to the Flight and can get fair credit for the efforts. Being a gamer is now a respectable form of Dom Participation! |
All art themed after Windsinger Wednesdays, as well as the description and the history of the event, is from the event's official spreadsheet, and all credit for it goes to the original artists and authors!
