B I O G R A P H Y

Shadow, despite not looking or acting very powerful, could probably do literally anything she wanted to due to her craft. She studies and collects stardust and crystals for a living, enlightening the dragons of her clan on the many uses of the trinkets she finds. Though Shadow knows that if the truth about these shiny little rocks ever got out, it could be disastrous in the wrong hands.

You see, one of the first crystals she ever collected had a mysterious property- it would grant it’s holder the power to spout searing, blue fire whenever in the possession of a dragon. Shadow found this out the hard way, when attempting to roast a meal whilst it was still in her bag- instead of cooking the chicken, she just incinerated the poor thing. Since then she’s found many more crystals with magical properties, and makes sure to keep each and every single one locked up tight, just in case.

The only reason Shadow acts so shy is so that she doesn’t accidentally let the truth of her career slip. As mentioned before, if word got around, it could be disastrous for all involved. So she keeps her lips zipped. Because once someone gets her talking about crystals and stardust, she doesn’t stop- even if not doing so could put her and her loved ones lives in jeopardy.

____Shadow set foot out of her small home, for the first time in a week or so. She squinted her eyes as the sun’s rays fell on them, readjusting her to the outside world once more. She had bunkered down in order to study a small pile of dust she had found- stardust, as it had seemed.

So Shadow locked her doors for a lengthy seven days, using her time alone to study and test every last spec of this mysterious dust. Her experiments had turned out overall useless, with the exception of the discovery that this stardust was slightly explosive.

Now the nocturne was back outside, ready to find more stardust for her collection, or maybe something new, like a gemstone or a mysterious creature never before seen. So Shadow quickly set off, lunch in the form of a chicken tucked beneath one arm, ready to make a new and hopefully magical discovery.

It didn’t take long- after only about half an hour of flying low to the ground, she had spotted a small and rather shiny trinket. Circling back, Shadow realized that it was a crystal. Tying the chicken to a nearby tree, she inspected it closely. It had a beautiful sheen, complimented by a murky, ice-like blue that the crystal was seemingly made of. Though a red core could be faintly seen through the fuzzy material. Perhaps this could have some interesting properties? She tucked it into the pouch that hung at her side before untying the chicken and setting off once more.

After hours of searching, the sun was beginning to set- and Shadow had unfortunately only found more stardust. Though she wasn’t disappointed, as that was what she had set out to find in the first place, right? She set down once more for dinner, stomach rumbling after the lengthy flight she’d taken, completely forgetting about the crystal that still occupied a pocket in her pouch.

Setting down the chicken, Shadow began to cook the chicken with licks of flame emanating from her mouth- though she stopped quickly. Instead of their usual deep orange, the flames had taken on a blue hue. And the chicken had transformed into a pile of ashes. More intrigued than annoyed, Shadow began searching through her bag for the cause of the mishap. The only thing she turned up was the crystal.

After a quick test of dropping the crystal and breathing fire once more, Shadow came to the conclusion that it had caused her dinner to turn to ashes. Enamored with the discovery, the nocturne made a beeline for home- perhaps more of the crystals she’d collected had mysterious uses. Oh, how much testing she’d get to do!
