A victim of a failed egg robbery, lost unhatched far from the Tangled Wood in the Icefields, Tikvah was found by her father, Feather, on his way to check on the capricorn herd living within the area of his clan's home. The kind gaoler farmer did not hesitate, his mind unwavering of the hope he had to help the frozen egg should it be viable. He took the egg back to his wife and clan, where they discovered something very odd. Whatever life that had resided in the egg had indeed perished to the cold, there were no doubts...but a small amount of living magic still resided in the egg. Unsure of what to do next, but having other members in the clan born from other, similarly interesting means, Feather and his wife, Chimera, resolved to attempt and hatch the egg....and with some time of sitting, and tending to a seemingly lifeless egg, something stirred within.
rO50KyM.png
A quiet whisper of a tune, so soft and twinkling, yet haunting...a sound similar to wind whistling through leaves and hollowed trees as a storm rolls in. For some, they might have feared such a noise coming from an egg, especially one when examined, still held no signs of life other than some faint magic. Chimera and Feather, however, celebrated and gave the hatchling within the name Tikvah. A name for the hope that her parents had for their new child, and a name to continue carrying that hope to and past her hatching.
rO50KyM.png
After some time, with soft songs here and there, Tikvah hatched. It was a terrifying sight as cracks formed in the egg, dark fluid seeping out of them, and a high pitched melody pierced the open air. It was a sound the entire clan knew, the members all having visited the gaoler couple during their time caring for the egg, and without the egg's walls to muffle it, the haunting song fluttered through the clan's home, announcing Tikvah's arrival.
rO50KyM.png
With her parents and an audience of several other clan members present, Tikvah emerged, a tiny coatl hatchling, covered in dark fluids, and cleaned by her parents to reveal a stunning pattern of colors. Her eyes were two orbs that resembled the night sky with flecks of starlight, shadowy streams leaking from the small dark masses. They were beautiful.
rO50KyM.png
There was something else that was special about Tikvah...She had no heartbeat, something her parents took notice of right away. She had life but was not living. After conversing with others in the clan, the conclusion was made that through a miracle of strong primal magic, Tikvah's soul was captured and retained inside the egg, hibernating until awoken by the tending of her parents. Their theory proved fairly correct when it became apparent Tikvah was not aging. That did not bother her parents much. Many in the clan were not alive in the mortal sense. One of their clanmates was literally a doll given sentience through the work of one of their other clanmates by accident. It's not the oddest thing to possibly happen through the works of magic, they thought. Instead, they took her presence as a gift for which they would care for and hold dear.
rO50KyM.png
Now Tikvah can often be found trailing behind her parents, two starry nights absorbing the world around her, or painting rocks with the scenes she sees, though her sight allows her a much different view. Tikvah can see more than just the scenery in front of her, she can see primal magic and the souls that once walked amongst the living and remain after death. Her rocks often display the wonders and spirits that reside in her home, clanmates taking to collecting ones displaying old family members.
rO50KyM.png
Despite her odd beginnings, Tikvah lives happily with her parents and her sister, painting her world as she sees it, and always singing haunting, beautiful tunes as she does.
