Hello Diary, i’m very sab sad today my friend Chaos left today. She saib said she wanted to explore the Viriban laderynnth Virridan laderynth the nature place. I thought it was because I bib did something wrong but she told me that she dibn’t didn’t hate me and that she just wanted to prove she coulb could make it on her own and that the Nature place soundeb sounded the most fun. Then she gave me a stuffed Mith doll and tolb told me that she would write back.

I hope i’ll see her again.

Dab Dad is trying to tech me the difference dweteen between “d’s and “b”. They just feel the same to me though. Tungsten doesn’t seem to have this prodlem problem even though he hates writing. The other hatchlings are excited for flying lessons tomorrow I hope it’ll be ok.

I’m going to stop writing because my writing claw hurts

Today was awful. I hate flying.

The day was fine until Tungsten and I arrived at the flying grounds. Ms.Lena was there with the other 4 hatchlings in the clan. All of them are Spirals. 3 of them are really pink and do everything together. They act so alike that it’s hard to tell them apart sometimes. The last one is Jean’s daughter Adira She’s green and she thinks she’s so cool. I hate her.

Everything was fine while Ms.Lena was just explaining how flying works. I took notes and thought I understood what was going on; But then we had to do the practical. Everyone ran up a short hill and jumped while flapping their wings. We all fell the first time, but then Adira figured out how to fly. Then Tungsten. Then the pink gang.

And I couldn’t do it.

I kept trying, I jumped so high and flapped so hard but I couldn’t get up into the air. Ms. Lena started coaching me and at the end of the day I finally did a short flight. it was very unpleasant. I don’t like the floppy feeling in my stomach or the lack of solid ground at my feet. It was also very frightening being so high up..

As we left the flying grounds Adira flew toward me,

“Are you sure you’re a wind dragon Sodalump? That sorry excuse for flying would make an earth dragon embarrassed. Is that what you are lumpy baby? A dirty earth dragon?”

I was about to slap her mouth shut when Tungsten intervened.

“Leave him alone Adira! Or I’ll fight you!”

“OH! you going to fight Sodalump’s battles for him, I can see why you feel the need to protect him look at him crying for his mommy! Go and cry to your mommy little baby!”

We didn’t let her talk any more after that.

Mom was a bit scary when we got home.

“I don’t know why you two beat the snot out of Adria but it’d better be for a good reason.”

“It was!” Tungsten blurted,

“Shut up!” I hissed at him.

“It is not your job to tell your brother to shut up. Now what do you mean by that Tungsten?

My stupid brother proceeded to spill the entire story, as it went on my mother’s face twisted into a frightening snarl “That little witch! When I get my claws into her i’ll-”

“Enough.”

We all jumped, my father likes to sneak up on other dragons sometimes. He looked at my mother for a while and softly murmured, “Perhaps you should talk to Jean about his daughter’s behavior.” My mother considered this and nodded. “Believe me ,I’ll have a long chat with Jean, especially about how he is raising his daughter!” Mom whirled around and stomped out of the lair, I did not envy Jean at all. My father turned to Tungsten.

“Wait for me in your dwelling we will talk later.” My brother gave me a nervous glance but did as my father said.

“I believe you had trouble with flying today?” I stared down at my feet and nodded. “I want to let you know that it’s ok.” I looked up and gaped in surprise. “We all have weaknesses and it’s ok for this to be yours.

“But I’m a wind dragon! Isn’t this supposed to be our whole thing?”

“Some would say that it is a wind thing to be… loquacious. But I have never felt the desire to speak without reason. I have other strengths and so do you.”

“What do you mean?” I didn’t know what he meant, i’ve never been the fastest or the strongest or the biggest; those strengths belonged to Tungsten.

“Sodalite, you are very intelligent. There has never been a lesson we’ve that has been beyond you. You also love to learn and you never give up. Your mother and I are very proud of you.”

I blinked, was that true? Could I really be... smart?

“Now your punishment for fighting, you will help Jean tomorrow with his tasks for the morning. In the afternoon you will be learning wind magic instead of going to flying classes with your brother, understood?”

“But what about final flying exam?”

“Do you understand?”

“Yes Dad.”

“Then good night.”

He turned and walked toward where Tungsten had left presumably to tell him about our punishment. I went to bed and began writing in my Journal.

You know maybe there was some good things about today.
