When Seliana found the clan, it was small, little more than a cave under a tree with a pair of guardians sizing her up with bright green eyes. They didn't trust her off the bat - this was what they had given their life to protect. Not the cave, but the tree. It was a small thing, just tall enough to litter the ground with pink petals, and the mouth of the cave barely large enough for the guardians to fit into - and not large enough for Seliana to get in. She didn't know what it was that convinced them to let her in, but hours later she was awoken from her sleep near the river by one of them inviting her back to her new home.

After that the clan grew., the guardians looked to her for guidance. She didn't ask to begin making the calls, but their trust in her had gone from inviting her to their home to allowing her to decide who was allowed into it and what they would do there.

When Leban entered the forest, Seliana's heart stopped. Despite her breed's often-innate sense of individuality, of dislike of their own kind, she had let more than a few in and Leban was to be allowed into more than the clan. The heart she stopped when they met was handed over as easily as the flowers she gave to court her.

Yaffa entered the forest afraid and injured. The clan took her in, carried her to the den that was growing bigger by the day. Seliana knew, upon seeing the hatchling curled in a nest of pink petals and soft moss, that she was going to be theirs. She belonged with them, the way Seliana belonged in the den, the way the tree belonged to the guardians. She may not have come from a nest Seliana laid herself, but she was brought to her for a reason and Leban was more than happy to raise the young dragon with her.
