Biography
the drifter, & simply that flew too close to the sun |
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It only took a step into the darkest recess. In a moment's time, he saw more than he ever should have. Far into the darkness between the stars, where behemoths of magic and metal shook free their bindings, where spectres danced along leylines, he caught just a glimpse of the distant world-to-be and its supreme magical nature. Then it was gone, and the remaining darkness gouged him deep. He was nothing special, and never thought himself so. A solitary nomad with a darting step and a steady sword arm, just "Drifter" for lack of better name. Sometimes he took on requests, chased the wicked, or played games, but said very little; and now he associates with others even less. He fears his woes are contagious, and feels that nobody should shoulder them. |

He knows he has only limited time left-- whether weeks, months or years, he doesn't know. The illness often lays silent, only to strike as lightning at any hour: it manifests as internal bleeding and seizures, first the coughing and then the all-consuming dark. In those helpless moments, the glimpses into a hundred future oblivions return. The rising pillars, the smoky behemoths, the brilliant magenta veins. . . and then he awakens again, weak, in a pool of his own blood. Though he's already accepted his demise, the Drifter knows he can't let the journey end yet. These flickering realities, are they the truth or spun mythos? What's the exact nature of this disease? Perhaps he'll find a cure someday, and this hope keeps him moving, for better or for worse. |
━━ notes ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» His preferred familiar is a small, floating robot. It easily manipulates tech that he cannot, and keeps close attention on his vitals at all times. » Despite his distance, he's recently taken on a companion. A cheerful, spunky attitude in his life is something he never asked for, but greatly cherishes. |
