Izar

Izar has always been a passionate dragon. Quick to smile, quick to take offense, he has a personality that shines as brightly as his coat. His tendency is to remove himself quickly from a situation that has angered him, often striking out into the woods to get away. Unfortunately, Izar's sense of direction is... nonexistent. His parents joked that his egg hatched upside-down. This lack of direction was what brought him to Sarkis's clan in the first place, after a sibling spat had seen him flying blindly away from home, and utterly unable to get back.

When he was tired and hungry, he was found by a foraging pearlcatcher with colors that looked like a dawn rainstorm and a gentle personality. The first time Ekaitz spoke, Izar knew everything would be alright. Izar followed Ekaitz home, and the search for Izar's home clan got underway. It took some doing, and Izar found himself enchanted by the effort the clan put forth on his behalf, even the strangely dramatic little fae mated to one of the clan's leaders. By the time his home clan was located, Izar was more than half in love with the life he had here, assisting anyone who needed help and learning everything he could as quickly as he could. He was more than half in love, too, with his rescuer, the gentle Ekaitz.

Going home became a chance to let his family know he was well instead of a real return. If he let his sister know his intentions by making a heart with his tail behind Ekaitz's head, that was their little secret.

Izar can typically be found curled up somewhere sunny with a pile of scrolls and books around him, or experimenting with various plant detritus left over from Ursula's workings or the clan's dinner. For a bookworm, however, he is extremely sociable, and chooses his working locations so they are located near well-traveled paths through the clan's territory.

Sometimes this can lead to problems, however, such as when the hatchlings stole his scroll and ran off with it. His temper flared, and he stormed off in a huff. He was lost in the Reaches for three days, and was hungry and depressed when Magdala finally found him and brought him home. After that, Ekaitz insisted that Izar take his familiar Prudence with him, even when he was angry, as she naturally sought the nearest watering holes. At least this way, Izar wouldn't starve.

It was a good thing they had. One of Izar's curiosity-induced day trips was to the Starwood Strand, accompanying Magdala on her search for herbs. Something the chittering Nocturne said as a joke hurt his feelings, and he left while her head was down, certain he knew the way home. Just fly over the water back to the Southern Reaches. Easy. Prudence rode in his satchel, and they flew over the water. Unfortunately, it wasn't the Crystalspine Reaches Izar flew towards, but rather the Windswept Plateau.

The only reason Izar managed to find his home and his darling Ekaitz again was that he had the sheer dumb luck to land among the Clan of the Dawn Breeze.
