Mendacium was truly the ideal choice for Nix. She's the most obedient and sweet dragon you could ever know, she doesn't complain, she does her job without questioning, and she's not afraid of getting her hands dirty. She does the cleaning up and the bulk of the medical work on all the subjects. She's dealt with every kind of laceration, broken bone, and wound from all manner of tools and tricks. Nix's experiments can get quite intensive at times, but Mendacium has never found a job too great for her to tackle. If she had a coin for every blood stain she had to clean, she'd be richer than the whole clan! Too bad Nix doesn't pay her.
[EXCERPT: INTERVIEWING THE QUARANTINE WORKERS] "Nix can be quite harsh at times, but I can't say he's anything but that: harsh! He's the coldest most unloving and merciless dragon I've ever known, but he still finds room in his heart to accommodate a lowly bogsneak like me. I must say, I truly love him, he may not be kind, but he's handsome and powerful as anything a girl could ask for. I'm lucky to have such a confident young man, and I'm sure he's lucky to have a wife who knows her place. Now, if the interview is over, I need to get back to work. Those wounds won't mend themselves after all!"
