Haven

Who, who are you really? Ever calm and collected, Haven is known as one of the most unshakable residents of the Aikka clan. She’s a dedicated botanist, specializing in underground fungi. She also loves to play chess and read books in her spare time. Haven always has a level head and a no-nonsense attitude; she’s a great friend to have around when you need someone to help you talk rationally through a problem, or to help mediate a fight between individuals. She’s also known to be fastidious and clean; she keeps few items of sentimental value, so most of what she owns and borrows are of a practical nature. In her den, separated from the rest of the clan, Haven and her daughter tend to the large mushroom and fungus colonies being grown underground. Haven is a botanist that specializes in both medicinal and poisonous fungi; she grows a large variety of fungi, ranging from molds like penicillin to mushrooms like death caps! She sells all excess medicine on the market to bolster her own treasure stash. Despite her serious appearance, Haven has a habit of believing strange rumors and theories that other dragons would raise an eye ridge at. Thankfully, she’s not on the level of believing that Sornieth is flat. Still, it’s best not to trust rumors heard from Haven, unless heard from another, more reliable source.

The Aikka clan is not Haven’s home clan; she doesn’t hide the fact that she believes she is just a visitor in these tunnels. Her home was in another Nature clan far south of their current location.

Haven was visiting a friend for tea when her home clan simply... disappeared. Upon returning to her clan after tea time, she found the whole place abandoned: dragons, belongings, familiars, treasure, and more, all simply missing. Nothing was left behind to imply that any dragons had ever lived in that territory, besides the dens and tunnels dug by its previous denizens.

So what was a Ridgeback to do? What Ridgebacks do best: borrow. Before the end of the day, she had made her way back to the Aikka clan, explained to her friend what had happened, and went and borrowed a bed to rest in. Then, she borrowed some food from the Hanging Gardens in the morning, and after that, borrowed some flowers from Czar’s personal garden. She proceeded to borrow books, tools, pillows, fishing nets, and whatever else suited her fancy at the moment, until she was cornered by the clan leaders.

The clan leaders were not ignorant of Haven's clanless plight, but still, they had to ask: why are you “borrowing” so much from our clan? Haven’s reply was simple:

“Oh, well, since my clan is missing, I figured I’d borrow yours.”

The answer was a baffling one, to say the least; Ridgebacks were notorious for “borrowing” things without asking, but… a whole clan? This was a more unusual concept than they were used to.

Some dragons, not fond of Ridgeback “borrowing” habits, tried to find ways to shoo her out of the lair; whether through willful stubbornness or blissful ignorance, Haven never picked up the hint. She has since carved out a burrow all for herself, which she now shares with her daughter and granddaughter.

Haven still holds out hope that her home clan will reappear just as mysteriously and suddenly as it disappeared; weirder things have happened before in the history of Sornieth, right?
