______ Zephyra appeared from the woods, with no memory of her past life or family. She was found as a hatchling, and she appeared to be growing out from inside the trunk of a tree, indistinguishable from the rest of the dark forest if it wasn’t for her glimmering opal scales. The scales shift between shades of umber to green to turquoise, standing out from her deep rippled feathers. As she was rescued as a young dragon, Zephyra was able to quickly pick up the different languages in the clan with remarkable speed. Where at first she spoke only in gentle sounds which were uninterpretable by others, she began speaking to the other dragons in their mothertounges, much to their delight.

______ Only known to Zephyra is the fact that she was born knowing the language of the deep forest. Her low whirrs, clicks, and trills allow her to communicate with any creature of the woods. She keeps this a secret, not because she is unable to explain it- but because she wants to protect the skittish animals of the forest from others. The mysterious and mystical creatures of the forest are drawn to her. Sometimes, she will sneak away from the crowd of dragons into the gentle noise of the forest, calling out to any beast or animal who will hear her. Little squirrels gather at her feet, and occasionally a bear lumbers from its den to somberly meet her eyes.

But the deer are her favorite creatures of all. They have a liking to her, and aren't startled away by her large size. They will bound up to her, craning their diamond shaped heads to meet her eyes, blinking a kind and pure trust. If she lowers herself to the forest floor and lays there for long enough, bucks will scratch their horns on her opal scales as if they were the trunks of trees. Fawns will shakily bound back and forth over her paws, nibbling at her fur. Does will lie and sleep at her feet. The mutual, silent understanding between Zephyra and the deer of the forest is her greatest source of joy.

______ Despite her initial shyness with other dragons and her ominous appearance, Zephyra is quite mellow and reserved, who became loved by everyone she met. When an outsider appears, Zephyra is the one who is called to interpret. Even if the language is new and unfamiliar, she's able to learn it well enough to understand, speak, and reply in a matter of seconds. Her favorite part of being the clan's unspoken translator is when she responds to someone in their native tongue moments after meeting them, when she sees their eyes light up as they become understood by someone. Frequently she is found hanging around the other dragons, although Zephyra speaks little it is undeniable that she enjoys their company.
