RockBottom

Long-forgotten, and lost in the depths, Rock Bottom's name may have been prophetic. This leviathan does not feel her ancient hunger as a ravenous energy, but as a feeling of emptiness; an awareness that something is missing.

Her crew are nearly all dead, not that she'd permit them to shirk their duties for it. One of the few to survive her initial catastrophe was a novice necromancer. For all his efforts, the greatest he could achieve was a slight revival of their souls, which now wail eternal as they scrub Rock Bottom's decks and de-barnacle her hull. Sometimes they can be seen lurching out into the abyss, seeking freedom - or death - only to be snapped up again in their ship's merciless jaws.

As a Leviathan, Rock Bottom is almost as enormous as she is ancient. Big enough for a guardian or imperial dragon to board comfortably, the beast's collosal maw opens wide enough to soundly stop most standard ships. Smaller vessels, she simply swallows whole, adding to her collection of trapped souls.

Leviathan are considered ghost stories by most sailors, as everyone knows it is impossible for a ship to sail at the bottom of the ocean. That is, until the Rock Bottom or her kin rise from the waves with a hapless ship caught between her masts.
