The art of Shadowmancy is an art rarely taught to Light dragons. It's not one that Light clans perceive comfortably, but there are those brave rebellious few who get their claws on the talent of it. There is bartering between the two flights from time to time. Of course, they are neighbors and not all are enemies. Some of what's passed between the borders are material things, some hold magic, some things traded between a Light and Shadow dragon is magic. Roveda learned from an old dragon she had met on the barrier between the two worlds the art of bending the shadows until they become tangible. As a young hatchling she looked to the sky and dreamed of a way to forever hold the beauty of the night sky in her claws and keep it with her always. In a way, the night sky is a shadow--- the shadow that even the sun cannot completely illuminate. It is overwhelming and vast like the ocean but none could ever hold it. Through Shadowmancy the young Ridgeback learned of the limitless shadow she could pull from the sky and use in a dazzling magic with hues of crimson and purple. She can use it to entertain brilliant performances of dances with silks strewn from the sky itself, and ribbons that fly through the air like enchanted snakes. But as beautiful as it may be, one could also use the darkness of a cave or the shadows that belong to her enemies themselves and have them turn against you. It's an art to be wary of but Roveda doesn't purposely harm others, she prefers the sparkles in the eyes of her kin as she uses the magic to awe and inspire them. --- ♦ --- After a while, she got tired of dancing, and wished to change how she used her magic for entertainment. She also needed a change of scenery, and so she made the logical choice of exploring the Tangled Woods first. She didn't have to walk long before stumbling into the Chiroptera Cult. There, she wasn't a novelty anymore, her Shadow magic quite common among its native land, and so she had to find new, more interesting tricks, which brough her to seek apprenticeship under Melachini, the Circus Mage. She was happy to learn new things in the Koumori Circus, but since Melachini already had another apprentice, Rune, she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely sometimes. That was until Kalayla joined the Circus a few months after Roveda, and she fell in love hard with the little Veilspun. They became fast friends, bonding over the fact that they were the last to join as well as Light dragons. Then they became partners on the scene, before becoming lifelong mates... --- ♦ --- |
