Saffron is a solemn and focused dragon, one who dedicates himself entirely to any task he deems important. Though he is more than happy to return every so often to the Ashfall Waste with propositions for allies, his true aim in life is to perfect the art of silkweaving. Where many dragons prefer using harmless silkworms for the task, Saffron has found weaving with spider silk to be much more engaging. Though spiders such as those native to the volcanic vents of his home flight are large enough to provide workable silk, they often possess unruly temperaments that make them ill-suited to producing any large quantity of silk for a dragon to work. It has taken Saffron years to get his own arachnid companions to the level of comfort they require to produce silk, but now that he has, he is able to weave some of the finest-quality silks known to dragonkind. Airy and durable, these silks are a premier export of Thunder Hollow, fetching prices upwards of a fifty-thousand treasure per bolt. Other varieties of silk, such as the sticky kind used to build webs, are also harvested dutifully by Saffron and sold as structural support and binding agents.
Saffron knows some Common, but prefers the coatl tongue when speaking. However, he has mastered the art of comprehending Common and can listen to other breeds easily even if he cannot speak back to them in their own preferred tongue. Fortunately, most of the Waste's denizens are coatls such as himself, so this barrier poses little issue to his work.
He spends the vast sums of money he brings in on the expansion of his enterprise, as he places very little value on other material possessions.
