Midas

Midas was named after the early King Midas, an individual of Greek mythology well known for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold. This came to be called the Golden touch, or the Midas touch. A trait the glittering Pearlcatcher himself possessed.
A blessed touch with the coveted pearl could turn life and death into gold. Those fallen in battle he would 'Bless' so time would not ravage them once the elders had cleaned and positioned the fallen into a state not of their death, but of their final moments of life;
A worthy foe.

From there, Midas found small things in the world he too had to 'Bless'. Such things like trees in Autumn, fruits and wildlife, and the suns rays through morning dew were something so sorely forgotten and missed by those in the world in their own hurry to go about their life, unable to see anything but the world in front of them, not the beauty all around.
