An ancient being unearthed during the expansion of the mushroom mines, Crypt, as he came to be called, is a lich of immense and destructive power. Though at first appearing a dry and dusty corpse held together only by luck and sinew, the truth of the matter is that Crypt is so powerful that even a millennia of sleep could not break down the remnants of his former life. Indeed, when first discovered it was thought he was a recent kill and that a murder investigation would be put forth, only for his jaw to crack and spill forth a questioning hum.
Though his power was obvious from the start, Crypt was allowed to remain in his little offshoot cave and in West Fallows land. With no obvious designs on Darius’ land or kingdom, he instead offers wisdom, advice, and curious knowledge, yet he has never offered assistance with Darius’ troubled existence as a recently- and unwittingly- reborn lich. Instead he treats Darius as an equal, knowing that even his age is not a match for the king’s own, as often as he does a favored nephew, tutting over his state of mind and easing particular worries that the king is too prideful or distrusting to speak aloud. While the ruins above his cave were once his own, Crypt remains in the underground lair, happy to live out of sight and mind of the populace. His cat, a reanimated creature by the name of Tobias, acts of his most frequent companion, the only “living” thing allowed in disturb his homestead. |
