Cain used to be Adamantine's first born, until she adopted Ichoris: the Plague mirror inherited his birthright, being the elder child. For this reason, Cain always felt a pang of jealousy towards his step-brother. When they were still hatchlings his sister Fern admired Cain so much that she hated Ichoris too, like a copycat, and they often tormented him together. All of this changed when one day Ichoris proved himself to his sister and snatched Fern admiration, who realized she had been manipulated by Cain all that time. From that moment on, Cain felt betrayed by his siblings and especially by his mother, who chose Ichoris as her first born and Fern as her heir. He tried many times to foil Ichoris' plans and to take his lover from him, a mirror named Ivory, but to no avail. Many years passed and he decided that in order to take back his birthright as the heir of the clan leader, he had to build his own kingdom far from his homeland. He eventually traveled to the darkest depths of the Tangled Wood and made his home in the Foxfire Bramble. For the first time he felt like the loved and revered king he was destined to be, but the reality of it all escaped him, as his kingdom had no subjects. As his mind slipped further away he kept roaming, babbling alone in the endless darkness. Sometimes he would find a trinket and bring it home, the emblem of his riches and his people admiration and, as the years passed, his hoard grew in size. One day Ivory was traveling to the Abiding Boneyard to hunt, when she caught a storm that injured her left wing and made her crash land into the Bramble. In the darkness she cried for help, until she eventually found Cain and his hoard. Maybe a hundred mimics looked at her clicking and creeping in the darkness like spiders while her brother-in-law sat on a bramble throne up high staring at her with empty but triumphant eyes. In his mind he was a great conqueror, in reality a derelict. It hadn't been ldifficult for her to convince him to return to the Garden so that their shamans could mend him. Since then he lives in his private cave in the Secret Garden, the hatred for his family all forgotten as he still lives in his world of fantasy. Nobody knows what became of his hoard, but every time you meet him he always has a mimic or two on his person, always different. Like they're always following him from the darkness.
