Biography
Dagoob customarily carves using wood, bone and rarely stone. The Wildclaw is less accustomed to the tools and methods for carving into the harder material.
Artio's Roar, the clan which raised Dagoob, lived in a grove, where each family dwelt in a great tree, their tales inscribed in the bark of their tree for all to see. Dagoob never had much skill or interest in combat, and poured everything into art. It was a life he was content with.
However, dissent rose over how best to commemorate their stories. Should the medium be more natural in origins, with moss and blossom? Should the work be as transient as the seasons, as all move forward; or the victories of the past preserved for the betterment of future generations?
In other matters discord arose. Whether it was worth leaving areas truly untouched by dragons to risk overburdening where they hunted and foraged? What if another fool rose to leadership thanks to duel-proficiency?
As the clan wondered how best to maintain balance, it was they themselves who lost it. It reached the point where duels left everyone bitter and dissatisfied. The next step was acts of vandalism. Petty in the beginning.
Ziirylev, who'd been visiting at the time, had expected the onset of a forest fire would unite the bickering dragons. Instead, lines were drawn in ash. Where the transients counted young firebrands among their numbers, the memorialists had elders. The former won the rights to the home they'd once shared. As the memorialists left the grove, the victors set about giving the commemorative murals to the flames of renewal.
Dagoob was one of the artists who lost everything that night.
The wandering Ziirylev encouraged the Wildclaw to leave the shadows of that night behind him, and brought him into the Sunbeam Ruins, where they met the Stanzascale clan.
Beauty remained the keystone of Dagoob's existence, and he saw kindred spirits. A clothier whose art was needle and thread, the soft-spoken musicians, a Pearlcatcher who spoke of shining souls, and a Coatl who encouraged all to do what they loved.
There, Pruni aided him in finding garments that made him happy.
There, he found a confidante when he was in need.
There, he was encouraged to take up the tools of his art once again and decorate halls the clan would see preserved.
The loss has yet to lose its sting, but the Wildclaw has begun to entertain the thought of finding where those who lost their home as as he had were.
