As much or as little as you may trust your eyes, rest assured they will betray you in Keres' presence. Mostly commonly seen beside the dragon is a large black bird, though in other lights it appears to be a black wolf. Look again, and a black unicorn will trot beside her. However, ever-present is the swarm of plum-colored fireflies which circle her and any of those companions at any given moment.

In truth, Keres keeps no such familiars. The ones seen are but extensions of herself, though she recognizes the fireflies as something much more. She possesses the ability to project herself into these constructs while remaining in complete consciousness in her own body, while also being able to completely transform into any of them. The fireflies will still linger, though the amount and distance of them varies greatly. They seem to be the most powerful of these constructs, with Keres able to use them to enter the mind of other creatures and dragons. It is a lengthy and nigh torturous process to most dragons, but after a certain duration Keres is in-tune enough to speak to them in a rudimentary fashion. Still, she rarely stays that long, and prefers to use the full extent of her firefly-related abilities to transform and travel quickly as a swarm.
