Back when the world was young, the Lightweaver was released from her prison of stone. She flew south, to a meadow long forgotten by time, where the sun shined brightest of all. She saw the imperfections of the world, and she took it upon herself to correct them. She created ten disciples out of her sibling's ambitions and her light magic. And Maeve opened her eyes to the world.

"It's so bright," were her first words. Her eyes were not pained by the light, no, she was in awe. In awe of her mother's power. And she wanted it. As time progressed, Maeve advanced far more quickly than her siblings and was her mother's favorite. She was the most skilled in light magic and could fight like no other. She was her mother's pride and joy, and after decades of training, they were ready. The Lightweaver tasked her children, her disciples, with spreading her teaching to the other flights, while she stayed there, to observe and protect the Light domain. As she was the most adept student and loyal daughter, she was tasked with the hardest flight of all: Shadow.

As she entered the Tangled Wood, Maeve could hardly see through the darkness cast by the Shadowbinder. She used her light magic to call down the sun, but in the Shadow domain, her magic was finicky at best. She was not used to the crushing weight of the darkness, and even flying was a challenge. But, she braved the hardships and began her work.

Over the following years, Maeve had perfected the use of Light magic in the Shadow realm and gained quite a following. The constant changing from the sunlight produced by her magic, and the crushing darkness of the Tangled Wood has led to her peculiar eyes, but that's not all that changed. Maeve was taught to spread her cause, no matter the cost. And that was what she did. Any and all dragons that got in her way "vanished," only to turn up dead weeks later. She destroyed all creatures of shade, innocent or not, to clear the way for her and her many followers. That is until the Shadowbinder paid her a visit.

Hearing word of a dangerous disciple of her sister, the Shadowbinder took it upon herself to deal with it. Maeve begged for her forgiveness, and the Shadowbinder was merciful. She granted her a sizeable chunk of land in the Foxfire Bramble, under the condition that Maeve stop her teachings. Maeve agreed. Now, she is head of The Above, an immortal goddess of light in a sea of darkness. She is happy and content with her life. But, more and more Shadow dragons are going missing, and more and more are joining Maeve's cause...
