Unusually for a Mirror dragon,Everdark left his current pack in search of a new life. he didn't want to be just another Mirror that hopped from pack to pack in an endless hunt and died without making a mark on the world that the gods had crafted. he wasn't looking for anything big. he would start his own clan and those that didn't follow him could do as they wished.
Everdark wasn't like the others. he had a personality full of strength and wonder,wits and the ability to carefully plan for his eventual clan's survival. he took on the advice and actions of others well,and like all Mirrors,he gained something from everything around him. when no one wanted to join him in the creation of NightClan, the ambitious youth was not discouraged from his goal. he made his own lair in the Driftwood Drags.
Then came a dragon that did surprise him; Coral,a female Guardian dragon that listened to his dreams of making a clan and decided to join him. as they labored over their lair Coral's intelligence and different point of view on all difficult matters rubbed off on him.
Within a week they were functioning like a proper Clan. they foraged and fished,hunted and scavenged,and although Everdark was not the conversational type he learned much about his companion and she about him. they eventually became mates,and produced a clutch of two eggs.
Everdark was not expecting a lone hatchling to wander into their territory,but he and Coral took care of it as if it were one of their own. Starsmoke was her name.
NightClan grew with the arrival of two adults,a mysterious Imperial and his Pearlcatcher companion. strangely, a Fae hatchling was also with them. they got along well and each found their roles within the clan. there was a tangible excitement the day before the eggs hatched
Two Guardians hatched. one male,one female. sadly,the male caught a life threatening disease and had to be given to another clan for special treatment. when he came back,he was no longer bonded to his parents or his sister and refused to join NightClan. he was transferred to another clan,much to the dismay of Coral and Everdark. yet they still had one healthy hatchling,whom they named Watermelon due to her strange liking of fruit.
Everdark named Nightshade his heir by mutual agreement between him and Coral. he recognized a spirit that none of the others had,and trusted him because he was a Mirror and his son. it was not just for these reasons,though. Shade completed many feats of leadership and hunting,such as evading and creating new tactics for defeating foes. Everdark can also tell that Nightshade will not be ready for a log time. his position as leader is unchanged
One day,NightClan's scout parties spotted a mysterious something moving around the tangled wood. they saw that 'it' ran on two legs,and a feathered crest or hypnotic black and white scales were occasionally visible. they reported to Everdark that it was an unfamiliar Wildclaw and asked what to do. the Mirror went to confront this stranger,his familiar,Ruby,close by encase he needed to send for backup. the stranger turned out to be Chuuya,and when they met they both challenged each other and fought. Everdark was thoroughly surprised by the sheer skill and speed the dragon possessed. he could hardly keep up with the Wildclaw's movements. he was also surprised by himself. this fight was a challenge that Everdark pushed himself to meet. he used moves he'd never taught himself. it did not seem like Chuuya was trying to kill him. by the time both were too exhausted to continue,they lie down at opposite ends of the clearing and licked their wounds clean. they caught each other's gaze and Everdark saw not even a hint of aggression,maybe admiration. the Mirror realized that Chuuya was quite handsome when he wasn't covered in blood. he offered him a place in his clan and the Wildclaw accepted. it took a week or so before the rest of them got over their fear and soon he was just like family
