Irkalla hatched from one of the clan's first nests when it still inhabited the Driftwood Drag. Irkalla inherited her father's cleverness and her mother's aggressive nature, which quickly made a natural leader among the younger dragons of the clan. As a young adult, she positioned herself at the side of the then-clan leader's side. Moonstone tired of the position as the clan grew, and stepped down to allow a dragon more up to the task of managing the needs of a large lair. Irkalla was appointed a temporary leader while a more mature dragon was found. By the time the clan had organized an election to select the next leader, Irkalla had made herself so invaluable that there were not other viable contenders. Since then, she has been a strong and ruthless leader of the clan. Her position is only strengthened by the support of the clan's fighters: Lalo, Quintessence, and Erecura (her mother.) With the clan's best fighter's at her side, none can seriously challenge Irkalla's reign, and the few who have tried were quickly defeated and put out of the clan's dens. Irkalla had brief matings in hopes of producing offspring worthy of her legacy, but none satisfied her until the arrival of Toxic. Toxic's intelligence and gift of seer-seeing have made him a worthy companion of Irkalla. He prefers to support her rule, rather than seek his own, understanding that combined they are more powerful than either is alone. Though the union was initially one made for political security, Irkalla has grown fond of Toxic, going so far as to seek out his company for no other reason than his presence. This makes him the single soft spot in her otherwise strict and uncompromising heart. |
