 Storm has known exactly what she was from the moment she was created. Deep in the Fortress of ends, hidden from the world she lived in one of the many caves with her "family". They weren't related at all, simply a group of experiments and failures that had been locked away long ago. Whether the Icewarden had made them himself didn't matter to their leader, her "Cousin", a scarred and mutated dragon of an unknown breed with scales as smooth as ice. To them their family's mission was to stay below where "Father" had left them and rot. Storm hated them with every breath she took and they hated her and each other with the same intensity. She purposefully challenged Cousin and Mother on everything even if it resulted in being chained to the floor for months or being thrown to Pet. One night she simply took it too far and found herself beaten and chased by her elder Brother and Sister. Just watch me you damn cowards! I'm going to find another land and live proud of who I am, more than you'll ever accomplish! What was that? Could it be... starlight? Storm had never seen the sky before. She felt her Sister's unhinged jaws snap at her heels as she lept for a ledge. The cliffside leading up to the small opening was steep and her wings hadn't grown yet. She desperately clawed at the icy stone as she fell, fell back to her family and the darkness waiting to swallow her whole, never to release her again. Her savior came in the form of two white paws grabbing ahold of hers as the ancient wolf grunted and hauled her up beside him. Her siblings snarled and howled, demanding her return but were ignored and he quickly steered her toward the outside. When Brother attempted to take them from the air the white wolf revealed a gnarled staff under his cloak and shot Brother down with a blast of wicked looking shards. His twisted face, frozen in pain, was the last Storm saw of her family as the other wolf gripped her tight and took off from the cave's opening, into the cold night. She was raised by this kind wolf, Enirk, who encouraged her to learn about the world around her. He himself explained what they were. "There's more of us? But I'm just one of many experiments-" "No. No you aren't. Our kind was made long ago and we escaped and we've thrived out here. Father created us to be strong and we haven't failed him. So hold your head high cub, you're not some monster destined to be locked in a cell. This world is yours just as much as the dragon your wings represent." When her wings finally grew in he took her down to the Crags and introduced her to the actual dragons of her home land and their festivals. Storm's first moment of genuine wonder and joy was watching the full moon rise on the crisp winter's night. "It's so bright! "Yes little cub, it is indeed." |

The single most effective way to enrage Storm is questioning the status of her and her mate. Whereas Nighthunter seems to not care about her hybrid status, Storm is incredibly aware of the fact she is not a proper guardian or dragon. She knows when other dragons notice this and judge her for it (whether this sense is accurate is debatable) and will defend herself fiercely. She is proud of her unique form but strives to prove herself to other dragons that she is not, and does not, need to be one of them. Nighthunter and the tunnel crew have tried to ease these fears and burdens by assuring her they truly don't care and respect her and have experienced moderate success.

Plans were immediately made for Nathaniel and a small company to take her body to the Icefields in an attempt to revive her. Typically this is a risk, as his necromancy is flawed. Subjects he has brought back are either souless puppets such as his familiar or like his mate... well but with a strange opal healing factor. Still, Storm's wife agreed to the plan.
Upon returning however... well the healers aren't sure. According to the group they met another hybrid just like Night and Storm, half imperial half winter wolf. Truly fascinating! We know almost nothing about their kind. To think even more are out there, but this is off track. He helped Nathaniel with the ritual, adding a far more rounded knowledge of souls and rebirth to the mix and we are happy to report it has worked with no ill side effects! And Nathaniel has confirmed he can't enter her head like his other subjects.
She wasn't able to escape completely unscathed however. Patches of beautiful but strange ice crystals poke up all along her body and fur and decorate her horns. Night claims she looks absolutely beautiful and enchanting, much to Storm's embarrassment and blushing. She seems fine with the new look, something we are very much glad for, as Storm has always struggled with her body and status as a hybrid. -Mciel, Leilana
