"Rather be the hunter than the prey!"

She had dreams to be a diplomat, like her parents. To work and fight for the Icewarden and his frozen glory. Although she was a born water dragon, she felt deep within her being that ice and water were two sides of the same coin. And without water ice could not exist. But without ice, the water would have no solid, true form to give it support. Somehow, she knew the Icewarden would not deny her wish to one day support him and work for him because she was a water dragon. She had much better luck than a fire dragon after all. Her whole life revolved around this one wish and she spent all her free time training and praying. Although a loner, she found no issue with being alone. The solitary confinement she put herself in during her training and prayer sessions was comfortable and welcomed. She knew that this trait would be welcomed among the Icewarden's ranks. The barren, cold land could become lonely and quiet. That was no issue with her. Her family found it a bit off but admirable. Their child would make a fine warrior for the Icewarden. They looked forward to seeing her accepted into his fold.

Katsumi's dreams were all shattered like delicate ice on a chilly, foggy morning. As a family of diplomats, only Katsumi had any combat experience due to her personal training. When the peace was broken on Icewarden's command. The skirmish lasted only a few minutes, although it felt like hours. Katsumi watched her youngest brother killed in the battle, struck down with no hesitation. Her mother was severely wounded, but stood by Katsumi during the entire fight, protecting her from blow after blow. As the fighting died down and the enemies dispersed, Katsumi held her mother in her arms. Her blood stained the snow and Katsumi's clothes red. As she held her mother close, sobbing over her death, Katsumi watched her father and oldest brothers through the tears in her eyes. They ran. Leaving Katsumi there without a word. Apparently leaving a child and dead mother behind was fine as long as the oldest child lived. Cowards, Katsumi thought bitterly against her pain. They were cowards.

The Icewarden realized his error. A diplomatic party with no known fighters or protection had vanished. It would be horrible for his reputation. Thousands of potential warriors and workers would vanish to other gods, losing him power. He ordered a scapegoat to be found. Katsumi was perfect. Enraged at losing her mother and brother, and at the cowardice of her father and eldest brother, she was livid. She fought against the guards as they gathered her up, covered in her mother's blood. It didn't matter that she had been holding her mother and crying. Those in court would never believe her. They hadn't seen her be collected. The guards stated her wounds were from her fighting them. That was a lie. It was all a horrible, awful, disgusting lie.

They tossed her in the Fortress of Ends in a cold, isolated cell. The solitary nature of the prisons did nothing to her. She was used to being alone. It only allowed her to brew, steeping in the hot waters of her soul. It aged, like wine, becoming more bitter and tasteless as the days passed. Every time a guard came close to the cell her hatred burned hotter at seeing those ice colored eyes. They would push her food in quickly and leave. Perhaps they saw what was happening to her in there. The hatred burning in her eyes. Or maybe they saw the ice draining her very magic. Its cold seeping into her and ruining the very essence of water that ran so strongly through her veins. Every time she tried to summon her water magic, her fingers would freeze. At one point it had hurt. But now, icy shards adorned themselves on her claws like talons. They scratched the ice of her prisons, leaving large gashes and scars in the walls. Anything she touched that wasn't already ice chilled instantly, as if a cold and distant icy wind crept over it. She hates it, but this power was what helped her to escape. Helped her gouge those that got too close to stopping her. Ripping through ice walls as if they were paper. And then she fled. Flying fast over the snowy fields and over the turbulent and aggressive ocean. As the wind over the sea howled and the waves crashed together, she solidified her revenge into blood hot iron. She would kill the Icewarden with her own claws. And any god or goddess that got in her way. They were all the same greedy cowards as he was. And they deserved hot, melted iron poured on their bones.

She found a clan of assassins, her unique abilities and knowledge making her a perfect fit. And because the clan heard so much information, no one laughed at her goal or dismissed it. If anything, she felt as if they accepted her goal. No one asked her about it except for maybe why. After being given a reason or a harsh “why do you care?” they back off and nod. As if in understanding. It was a breath of fresh air, but Katsumi will not let anything distract her. With her magic drained from her body, she relies on the burning hot ground and the vicious environment to keep her alive. She hates the Flamecaller and doesn't trust her, but the passion in the land is enough to keep Katsumi going. And she supposes that grants some sort of gratitude that she will never give.

She is known as an icy, stubborn, and heartless assassin. A loner by trade and a killer in training. Her attitude is as unforgiving as the fire around them. No one speaks with her for long, but those that have managed to spend more time with her have noticed the most peculiar thing. Katsumi has a soft spot for little animals. She talks to them softly barely above a whisper, a rare smile coming to her face that provides a glimpse into her past. Into a life when she didn't have the pain she has now. Yet those that noticed this also noticed her mistrust of all ice dragons and her seemingly constant arguments with Mammon. Despite this and her seemingly nasty attitude, Katsumi does her job within the clan well and focuses only on that mission when she has it. Every day she is sharpening her claws and waiting until she knows she is strong enough to kill the Icewarden. And all the dragons can sense it. That anger and hatred. Might as well put it to use.
