B I O G R A P H Y
Acolyte, Dive Instructor, Conservationist.

______ An egg hatched in a quaint nest deep underwater in the Fishspine reef, and the little blue Bogsneak with eyes like a whirlpool was called Berto. But from the moment the Bogsneak could understand her own name, she loathed it. Berto was wrong, too harsh, too strong. It was deeply incorrect, and it made her sad.

______ So too did the way her clanmates referred to her-- calling her ‘him’, insisting she dress and behave in a certain way that she found to be unnatural. Because of her primal vision she was called to the Tidelord’s vacated pillar, forced to sit and pray endlessly for his return when she would much rather have joined the dragonets tasked with studying marine biology. Everything was wrong, but no one seemed to listen to her when she tried to explain it.

______ Something called her to the surface that night-- did she want to catch a glimpse of the stars? She can’t remember now. She crested the water’s rolling waves and found a sandbar on which to perch-- and suddenly realized she wasn’t alone. A Fae, a Guardian, and a Ridgeback were also gathered on the slim sandbank, each one with eyes that gusted or glinted or flickered in the moonlight. They had been peering into the water curiously, seeking something; they explained that they sought her.

______ They did not seem surprised at her form. In fact, the Fae named Cherubino already seemed to know her name, but it wasn’t Berto. It was Rusalka. Rusalka, the beautiful water nymph in the fairytale, the one she had read when she was just a dragonet. The name was right. It was hers. And her mind instantly became filled with the Windsinger’s songs, welcoming her into his fold and into her true self.

______ Now Rusalka is the Museclan’s Water Acolyte, and has been able to pursue her passions as a diving instructor and a marine biologist. She teaches her clanmates about swimming and about the creatures of the deep, and though she still keeps up her prayers for the Tidelord’s return, she knows that being here, being in Museclan, being herself, is right as right can be.
