_______________________ My love is of a birth as rare As ’tis for object strange and high; It was begotten by Despair Upon Impossibility. Magnanimous Despair alone Could show me so divine a thing Where feeble Hope could ne’er have flown, But vainly flapp’d its tinsel wing. |

_______________________ And yet I quickly might arrive Where my extended soul is fixt, But Fate does iron wedges drive, And always crowds itself betwixt. For Fate with jealous eye does see Two perfect loves, nor lets them close; Their union would her ruin be, And her tyrannic pow’r depose. | ___ |

_______________________ As lines, so loves oblique may well Themselves in every angle greet; But ours so truly parallel, Though infinite, can never meet. Therefore the love which us doth bind, But Fate so enviously debars, Is the conjunction of the mind, And opposition of the stars. | ___ |

"It has been burning for so long, has it not?" A luminous face peered down at him through the suffocating darkness. It was framed in a brilliant halo of a light so bright that Hiraeth immediately shielded his eyes despite this being a vision. "It depends," he responded. "Are you talking about the half-rotten chili peppers I ate a month ago or my massive amount of repressed anger?" There was a sudden silence. The face grew eerily still. "I think I can see why The Fallen One wanted so badly to turn you into a mindless puppet," the face sighed. Hiraeth didn't want to fry his eyes out so he imagined that it was grimacing at him. "Yeah, but she didn't." "Back to the point!" the face snapped. "Would you like to avenge the thousands of lives taken by The Fallen One?" "No. That sounds like a lot of work." "Do you not want your creation to live in peace?" Hiraeth stopped. No one had ever asked him that before. That thing; did he really care for it? "Yeah, well, I mean..." The wildclaw stammered. He hesitated again. "Yes." "Then join us." Hiraeth felt a hand gently touch his head. "Fight for the future. For them." |
At once, the wildclaw felt a burning in his chest. He yelped and stumbled backward, falling on his side. The burning spread through every vein; through his arms, through his legs, through his head, until his entire body felt like it was being torn apart. A supernova of the anger that had been burning in silence for so long. Just when Hiraeth thought he was about to die, the face appeared in front of him again. Only, the face was now connected to a colossal dragon of warmth and light. The wildclaw immediately felt his pain cease into a faint tingling in his chest. "How do you feel?" The deity asked with a hint of concern. Hiraeth was still laying on the ground, struggling like a crushed bug. The Lightweaver opened her mouth to ask the question again when the wildclaw interrupted her. "...Good. Like I've been given a second chance at life." Hiraeth rose to his feet and grinned. "All my anger has been replaced with pure, beautiful vengeance." He looked at his claws and clenched his hands tight. "Did you give me a power-up too? Very thoughtful. How should I repay you?" "Tear The Fallen One to shreds," came the reply. "Figures. Don't worry, I won't disappoint." The darkness faded beneath the wildclaw's feet. Hiraeth found himself standing at the edge of the city once again, lying on his side. However, the feeling of vengeance had not gone away. "Well then," he said to himself. "If we're going to do this, let's do it the right way." The wildclaw launched himself hundreds of feet into the air. Astralis' massive skyscrapers seemed to loom beneath his feet. He placed his hands out in front of them and harnessed the power within. A supernova bloomed in the center of the city, flinging chunks of debris and dragons in every direction. "Hiraeth, seventh dominion." He chuckled. "My lucky number, eh?" The seventh dominion was a unique one. It is the first one in history to have been an inhabitant of the clan rather than a dragon selected and sent to The Lightweaver. The seventh dominion proved to be much harder to defeat due to their unexpectedness. They were eventually defeated and caught the same way as the dominions before them, but they represented more than just a threat from The Lightweaver. The seventh dominion is evidence that the other side is just as capable of adapting to threats as we are. And no matter how hard we strike The Lightweaver, she will always find a way to strike back with the same strength. |

Lore notes:
Hiraeth is part of Palvi's clergy, but the ideas about The Fallen One that he preaches is not exactly what Adrienne wants everyone to know. He doesn't know about the truth, but the things that he preaches to dragons are unsettlingly close to it.
And then he was awakened.
His heart was filled with contempt and pity for others, to the point where he couldn't bear watching others suffer. The Lightweaver had come to him in a dream with an offer that he couldn't resist.
Hiraeth became the first dominion that had "awakened" within the clan. And for this, he would be punished far worse. His creation was taken away, given his powers, and sent to destroy other dominions. Hiraeth was then sealed away, powerless and alone.
7th dominion.
